17.10.11: Advances in Primary Immunodeficiency

A Winter School run by the UCL Centre for Immunodeficiency.

The UCL Centre for Immunodeficiency is running a three day residential course covering adaptive and innate primary immunodeficiency disease (PID), which will take place at Cumberland Lodge, the Great Park of Windsor, UK, from 12th – 14th March 2011. 06.06.09: UKPIN is pleased to present the new UKPIN Standards of Care documents which represents the consensus of the UKPIN Standard of Care Group. These Standards of Care are for the diagnosis and management of the condition stated, for use by Immunologists and Immunology Specialist Nurses. The UKPIN Guidelines have been removed from this site and archived at the UKPIN Office.

02.11.07: UKPIN is delighted to launch an online immunodeficiency diagnostic tool for non-specialists, based on the protocols developed by the clinical working party for the European Society for Immunodeficiences. Click on either 'diagnose' on the top menu, or in the box on the left of the above header to begin a diagnosis.

News of the Department of Health's International Recruitment Programme

05.11.04: The Department of Health have various schemes running to help and support NHS Trusts recruit hospital specialists from abroad. To facilitate this, Medical Recruitment Co-ordinator Lissa Perteghella’s role within the programme is to source suitable candidates from Spain, to be put forward for consultant vacancies in England and Wales. She acts a first contact between candidate and hospital with vacancy and can help arrange an informal visit if an AAC interview is likely.

The Department of Health have published various guides for International Recruitment. The link below adheres to the current DH Code of Practice and provides advice regarding the infrastructure and support for international recruits eg: contracts, induction, mentorship, appraisal etc.

Epinephrine for Home Therapy Statement

27.10.04: Following the recent Clinical and Experimental Immunology paper on the incidence of adverse IVIG infusion-related reactions during home therapy, the UKPIN Steering Group has agreed epinephrine is not required for all home therapy patients, but that individual centres can make decisions on this for individual patients. Nalinaj Fernando Memorial Award Available

11.08.04: The Nalinaj Fernando Memorial Award is an annual award of £350 presented to the corresponding author of the best research article into genetic immunodeficiency published in Clinical and Experimental Immunology each year. All submissions to the journal in this field are automatically entered for consideration.

The editors of Clinical and Experimental Immunology welcome submissions for next year’s award (2004/2005) and information on manuscript submission can be found at: www.immunology.org/cei or by contacting the Managing Editor, Dr Cate Livingstone at [email protected].
